Rena K. has spent almost half a century learning how to be “sober” in the true sense of the word. Early in recovery, she realized she knew how to have relationships – but didn’t know how to have healthy relationships. So, with the guidance of many wise people, she resolutely turned the spotlight on herself to learn the skills and attitudes necessary to enjoy healthy, happy relationships.

This memoir/workbook is not just a collection of stories but a practical guide based on her personal experiences, the wisdom of sponsors, and the occasional professional. It’s a vulnerable account of how she has learned and applied these tools for over four decades—in all areas of her life!
Rena currently lives in South Florida and loves her sober life! She is passionate about Alcoholics Anonymous, the privilege of sponsorship, the joy of fellowship, and the excitement of both attending and sharing her experience, strength, and hope at conferences around the world.
When she is at home, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Cole and her friends both in and out of A.A. And writing.

About Grace
“Alcoholics Anonymous is not after all a personal success story, it is rather the story of our colossal human failure turned into the most useful kind of happiness by the alchemy of God’s Grace”

Our loyal companion Grace (above) passed away recently at the age of 21. That’s why I wanted to name our Rising Phoenix Grace.
Because we all need Grace!
